Special Loan

A magnificent late still life painting by Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906) entitled Bouilloire et Fruits (Pitcher and Fruit) has been lent from a private collection and will remain on view in the North Hall for approximately one year. Painted around 1888-90, it hangs with other Impressionist and post-Impressionist works in The Frick Collection including, Claude Monet’s Vétheuil in Winter and Edgar Degas’s recently cleaned Rehearsal, both dating from 1878-79. The Cézanne loan coincides with the 100th anniversary of the artist’s death on October 22, 1906.

Travel with the Frick

Two trips were planned in 2005 as opportunities not only to see extraordinary art and architecture but also to meet members of the cultural world, from directors and curators of major museums to private collectors. Traveling with each group was the Frick’s director, Anne L. Poulet. For more information, see Travel.

A Celebration of Collecting: Chatsworth Honoring The Duke of Devonshire, October 17, 2005

The Autumn Dinner plays a unique role in the social landscape of New York and is a much anticipated highlight of The Frick Collection's social and fund-raising calendar. Over its years, it has attracted those who appreciate the significance of the Frick’s contribution to the life of the city and the greater international cultural community. This year’s black tie dinner honors the Duke of Devonshire, whose family’s efforts to preserve and present the celebrated great English country house Chatsworth have long inspired private collectors and museums worldwide. The evening will be a magical experience celebrating one of America’s finest museums and one of England’s greatest houses. For more information, see Autumn Dinner.
