Online Visits for Schools, Colleges, and Universities

Led by staff educators, online visits invite students to look closely at and engage critically with 2–3 works of art from the permanent collection. Frick educators facilitate discussions based on students’ observations and curiosities, aiming for depth rather than breadth. Visits build analytical and descriptive skills and can be tailored to meet a wide range of curricular goals.

Conversations can explore topics including how artists develop narratives; how materials and formal choices shape meaning; portraiture’s power to fashion identity; intersections between art, society, and historical and present-day contexts; as well as the history of the museum and collecting practices. Sketching activities can be incorporated into visits as a tool for close looking, and introductions to the resources of the Frick Art Research Library are available for research-focused courses at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.

Visits are conducted via Zoom, or on your preferred platform.
