Past Exhibition: Studies for Works of Art in the Frick Collection

In conjunction with the New York Cultural Showcase Festival, a small exhibition devoted to studies for works of art in the Frick Collection was held. The twelve items included some preparatory studies by artists for paintings in the Collection, a lithograph executed by Whistler after his portrait of Robert de Montesquiou, a document in Fragonard's hand of his sale of the famous Progress of Love panels, prints by Van Dyck, who is richly represented by eight paintings in The Frick Collection, and a chest of drawers by Carel, a major French cabinetmaker of the eighteenth century, which closely resembles another piece acquired by Mr. Frick in 1916.
