NOTICE: Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
In order to ensure compliance with the copyright law of the United States, the Frick Art Research Library of The Frick Collection (the “Library”) has adopted guidelines regulating the provision of reprographics services (including, but not limited to, photographs and digital scans) and reproductions made by Library visitors using digital cameras and other devices.
I agree that I will comply with the Library’s guidelines governing reprographics services and use of digital cameras and other devices, as may be adopted and modified from time to time by the Library. I agree that I will use any and all reproductions provided by the Library or made by me in the Library (collectively, the “Reproductions”) only for purposes of private study, scholarship, or research. I understand and agree that it is my obligation to obtain from the copyright owner written permission to use any of the Reproductions for any other purpose.
I agree that I will assume all responsibility and liability for any claim of copyright infringement arising out of, or related to, my use of any of the Reproductions. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Frick Collection, its trustees, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all judgments, claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) suffered or incurred as a result of any third-party claim based on my use of any of the Reproductions.
