Collecting Impressions: Six Centuries of Print Connoisseurship

Lectures from the Center for the History of Collecting and The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Department of Drawings and Prints, Collecting Impressions: Six Centuries of Print Connoisseurship given on October 7, 14, 21 & 28, 2020.

Co-organized by the Center for the History of Collecting and The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Department of Drawings and Prints, this lecture series took place at noon every Wednesday in October. Antony Griffiths, Former Keeper, British Museum, launched the series with a keynote address: The Print Collector and Printseller. Karen Bowen followed with her lecture Booksellers and the International Distribution of Prints from Antwerp in the Early Seventeenth Century. The third speaker, Blair Asbury Brooks, presented Heinz Berggruen and the Postwar Print Market. The series concluded with an interview of collectors Leslie Johanna Garfield and Jordan Schnitzer conducted by Jennifer Farrell of The Metropolitan Museum.
